First day in Burgundy and goodness was I excited! Took the train into Beaune and visited their market and famous hôtel dieu. This region is known for their wine above all else, but also for their mosaic tiled roofs. Beaune was the sweetest place to stop and explore for our first day in Burgundy. The hôtel dieu also had a van der Wyden altarpiece. Can you say starstruck?

Fort du Mont Alban
I took so many photos in Villefranche that two posts can't even cover it - stay tuned for a third! Mixing France with the Mediterranean is such a dream. Andrew and I went in search of hiking and found this old fort at the top of the village. You could look out over Nice, Monaco, and all of Villefranche. Exploring 16th century ruins was a pretty good way to start the day.

The Lovely City of Villefranche
When I was thinking of the south in France - this is what I had in mind. I'm convinced Villefranche is the most perfect city out there. Picturesque doesn't even begin to cover it. More to come on this piece of paradise soon.
